Frank Harmon is a lifelong native of Iredell County . He is a graduate of Brevard Junior College and Western Carolina University with a B.S degree in Business Administration. From 1968 to 1988 he served as a Navy Pilot on active duty and in the Naval Reserves. In this capacity some of his responsibilities included Squadron Executive Officer, Aircraft Commander, Mission Commander, Instructor Pilot, Simulator Instructor, and P-3 Orion Anti-Submarine Warfare Tactics Instructor. He retired at the rank of Commander after 20 years service.
After leaving Active Duty, Mr. Harmon formed Harmon & Associates Realtors, Inc., with his father, David A. Harmon, in Statesville , NC . As co-owner and Broker-in-Charge of this full-service real estate company with an 18 member staff, he was responsible for supervision, training, conducting sales meetings, seminars, overseeing sales activities and closings. Capacities served in the Iredell County Board of Realtors: President; Vice-President; Chairman, Professional Standards and Practice Committee, seven terms; Chairman, Grievance Committee; Chairman, MLS Committee, and instrumental in starting Iredell County's first Multiple Listing Service; and served as a North Carolina Certified Real Estate Pre-Licensing Instructor at Mitchell Community College for 7 years.
After eleven years the company was successfully sold and he subsequently started Mid-Atlantic Properties, Inc. in Davidson , NC . The focus at Mid-Atlantic was Commercial real estate brokerage and development of hotels, shopping centers, fast food restaurants, and land. During this period Mr. Harmon was involved in the Development of 10 Hampton Inns in the southeast, and several shopping centers. Areas of expertise are site analysis and acquisition, lease negotiations, proformas, development budgets, project management, finance and franchise packages, presentations to investors and lenders, group and one-on-one. In addition to private investors, corporate clients have included: Promus Corporation, Marriott, Cracker Barrel, Hardee's, Food Lion, and Shoney's, to name a few. Mr. Harmon also holds the designation of Senior Business Analyst with Business Evaluation Systems for the purpose of conducting business valuations, business enhancement planning, and brokerage of privately owned mid-market companies.
Mr. Harmon and his wife Lynda, reside in Statesville , and are active members of Troutman First United Methodist Church where he is Finance Chairman, and a Sunday school teacher in the adult class. He has a daughter, Allison, who is married to Jeff Levis of Troutman, and has two grandchildren, Jacob and Katie.
